Take The Survey
As creative decisions that shape music: compression, synthesis, spatial processing, and AI-assisted workflows, become part of session-derived digital assets rather than invisible steps that disappear once audio is rendered, this survey examines assumptions about how music is delivered today, what information is preserved or lost after it is delivered for distribution, and how industry leaders and labels, creators, educators, toolmakers, and platforms perceive value, attribution, and structure in digital music.
The purpose of this survey is to document current practices, constraints, and expectations across the music industry, and to identify areas where existing distribution models succeed or fall short in preserving context and attribution.
In this survey, “delivered for distribution” refers broadly to the point at which music leaves the production environment and enters distribution systems.
